July Topic of the Month Takeoffs and Landings
Safer Flight Through A Better Understanding of Takeoffs, Landings and Pattern Operations
Date and Time:
Monday, July 25, 2022, starting at 18:30 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Jay Seward, FAASTeam Representative
Brief Description:

Each aircraft flight begins with a takeoff and hopefully ends with a successful landing. But according to the NTSB, it doesn’t always work out that way. A study group of 1300 recent General Aviation accidents included 180 accidents that occurred during the takeoff phase of flight. That’s fourteen percent of the total.   404 accidents occurred in the landing phase – more than twice as many as for takeoff. That means that almost half of all general accidents occur during either takeoff or landing.  Given this, we discuss strategies to limit the risks inherent in takeoffs, landings and maneuvering in and around the airfield.  Tips and techniques are presented.  If you want information, and ideas…attend this safety presentation.
