Brief Description:

Our guest speaker is Walt Schamel will provide his own incites on judgment items that include airport traffic patterns followed by a Q&A session.

Prior to attending a safety seminar, please review and abide by current CDC, State and Local health guidelines.

Melrose Landing Airpark residents are having a Fly-In for all pilots and friends.  Local bands will provide live music.  Local food trucks will offer various types of food and refreshments so lunch and snacks will be available for sale.  Fire department and law enforcement agencies will be in attendance.  Aircraft and automobile parking will be available at the west end of the airfield located at 126 Melrose Landing Dr., Hawthorne, Florida.  Various aircraft will be on display as well as aircraft arriving and departing.  Note to Pilots: Right pattern for runway 5 will be in use.

Directions to Venue:

Melrose Landing is located between Gainesville and Palatka Florida off Hwy 20.  From Gainesville, take Hwy 20 east to SR 21.  Turn left on SR 21 north to Baden Powell Rd and take a right.  Go past the Shands Boy Scout camp about a mile and turn left on Cue Lake Blvd.  After a quarter of a mile stay right at the Y in the road onto Melrose Landing Blvd.  Follow Melrose Landing Blvd to Melrose Landing Dr on the left.  Park where indicated.

From Palatka, take Hwy 20 to Chesser Monroe Rd.  Take a right on Chesser Monroe Rd. to East Washington St. and take a right.  Follow East Washington St. to Baden Powell St., turn left on Baden Powell St. Stay on Baden Powell St. until you get to a sharp turn to the left.  That should be Cue Lake Blvd. Turn right.  After a quarter of a mile on Cue Lake Blvd, stay right at the Y in the road onto Melrose Landing Blvd.  Follow Melrose Landing Blvd to Melrose Landing Dr on the left.  Park where indicated.

Our guest speaker, Walt Schamel is currently a FAA FAASTeam Representative assisting the Orlando FSDO with safety outreach programs include the safety forums at Sun N Fun. Walt is a retired FAA Inspector and was a Senior Instructor over the FAA's Pilot Examiner Program in Oklahoma City.  Additionally Walt was assigned to FAA Headquarters in Washington DC for 15 years.  Walt was also a Part 141 Chief Instructor at several flight schools in the US for over 18 years.
